Board 8 > Which PS3 collection should I get? Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, or Sly?

I'm considering getting one (maybe all?) of these and Twisted Metal during the PSN sale, all for PS3. I missed out on all Sony systems until I got a PS3 so they would all be new to me. I already have several games backlogged so buying them all doesn't make that much sense for me. Jak & Daxter is $5, Ratchet & Clank is $10, and Sly is $7.50 and each includes the first 3 games.

For someone that missed out on all those games, which is the best collection to get? I assume PSN is like Steam in that games go on sale often so I'm not that worried on missing out.

I wasn't particularly pleased with the R&C ports, although if it's the only way you'll play the games, I guess it's worth it. Sly ports are pretty much fine I think, just with the laziest trophies possible.

Are the ports pretty bad in general? I'd rather not play a game than play a crappy port, which is why I just gave up on Saints Row 2 on PC and regret buying it.

It's bad enough that they should've fixed it. 1 has frequent video stutter, and 3 has terrible slowdown with too much stuff on screen. Various glitches, too. I guess it's playable, and the graphics look nice. It's one of my favorite series, but the PS2 versions have fewer strings attached.

R & C are the best games of what I have heard

Sly > Ratchet > J&D because 2 is an absolute train-wreck.

I prefer Sly slightly(The best R&C game is outside the collection). I think the gameplay evolves best from game to game in the trilogy.

R&C isnt too far behind.

J&D is the worst to play back to back to back because 3 isn't going to feel very fresh after just playing 2.

That's too bad. I wonder if any updates have come out to address those issues.

I think among all my games and my backlog that I won't play anything back to back. In fact, I still haven't got around to Max Payne 2 or 3 and I beat the first one 7 years ago!

I actually had little trouble with the PS3 ports of R&C. I didn't notice anything particularly bad about it. It's perfectly playable.

In any case:

R&C > Sly > J&D
