if you mean depressing in the sense that it will pull some super sad stuff and make you cry a bunch, check out clannad or planetarian

if you mean depressing in the sense that you might not cry at all but the more you read the more you'll realize everything just kinda sucks and then you'll be sad, check out symphonic rain or narcissu (this one is short and iirc free) or swan song

Sekai Project panel at Otakuthon but it overlaps with the IA concert. I think last time kirby told me the panel was a whole bunch of nothing so I don't feel too bad about missing it tomorrow.

Splatoon 2 eating all my free time so haven't really been spending much time on VNs

I'm in a similar situation since my sister got a Switch and Breath of the Wild recently >_>

Splatoon 2 was really the only reason I got the Switch.

I probably played like 200+ hours of Splatoon 1 on Wii U, easily. Pretty much the only thing I ever played on the console. So I had to get 2.

I don't have BOTW, in fact I've never actually finished a Zelda game. I might try BOTW since it's supposedly like the best game ever but not sure if I'll like it since I don't care for open world games all that much.

Probably not getting anything else for it until Mario Odyssey.

I was tempted for Splatoon since it looks really fun, but I'm not sure if I'd end up paying for the online service, as affordable as it is, and so the game would kind of just sit there once the online features launch proper. I think the thing I'm waiting most for is Fire Emblem Warriors.

As for Symphonic Rain, still on Fal's route, but I got to the part where Arie sends her break-up letter to Chris. Her voice is much sadder and sounds like she's just about to cry. All the other letters were quiet and kind of..."distant" isn't really the right word but they weren't nearly as openly emotional. That letter made me feel bad.

I recall mentioning that I read a spoiler about one of the routes having the characters decide to use each other to advance their musical careers. I'm pretty sure it's this one since Fal's been shown to be pretty manipulative and opportunistic multiple times throughout. I think it was also Torta that remarked early on that Fal had Chris wrapped around her finger.

Finished Fal's good end. Moar like "good" end m i rite. After that one scene, there's a distaste I held for Fal, but I still couldn't get the feeling that, as cruel as she is, she's not really evil or malicious. Yet at the same time, there's this "It's more manipulations and if anyone better came along, she'd dump Chris in a heartbeat, no matter what she says now."

The game's got me hooked. I want to know the nature of Phorni and I feel like they'll explain it in one of the routes. I'm sure she's got some kind of connection to Arietta. The way she wrote the goodbye letter and Chris put it in the same drawer as the rest of Arie's letters kind of reinforces this feeling.

A fairly minor nitpick but Symphonic Rain has some weird-ass errors in the text at times.

Sometimes there'd also be stuff where capitals aren't where they should be or a letter appearing after a period as if someone had hit a key after finishing the sentence and didn't realise. Still, it hasn't interfered with my understanding of the game and definitely nowhere near IMHHW as the gold standard in "what the fuck is this" translation.

And completely unrelated but Phorni has this much trouble lifting a pen but still puts out a towel for Chris every day for when he gets back from school. Why is Phorni the absolute sweetest

I don't like Fal's theme as much but that could be because I'm utter garbage at that song. I can't pass it for the life of me.

I got to the part in Lise's route where everyone leaves the cenacolo the moment they see her and now Chris feels awful and is at the trattoria.
