That kind of customer is what managers exist for. They pass the shit down the ranks and you pass the difficult customers UP the ranks.

if counting out 16-17 bucks and some and some change is the worst part of your job then you have a very rude awakening when you actually work a real job. Like seriously, I hope you are good and painting shit for rich people, because you're gonna find literally any job annoying if someone busting a $20 is the worst part of your day. You literally just type "20.00" in the till and then give them the money it says on the screen back.

So do you not actually split the tips or were you just not counting them? I was trying to get a rough average of what you pulled out of there after the tips were split. They are fucking you big time if you're not getting a % of the tips.

I didn't have a lot of retail experience before, but if you just say things that go with the company's message (environmental issues, diversity, etc) that should help.
