i wouldnt care either if the game never dipped below 30fps

shitty frame rate can ruin a game, and even an inconsistent frame rate is a huge pain in the ass (i.e. bloodborne)

fps will never be a priority for devs because it requires a lot of effort to achieve, maybe a graphical downgrade, and for most games it's not something sexy you can market like "4k."

gears of war 4 has its multiplayer running at a consistent 60fps, and it honestly makes a huge difference when you go from the 30fps horde/campaign the 60fps competitive multiplayer. only people that dont care about the frame rate are the ones who honestly don't know any better

I meant for this game. I don't know how many games will be 60fps next gen, or if the CPU upgrade will affect the percentage of 60fps games at all.

It's a cartoony casual platformer. It doesn't need high framerate. It's not a goddamn multiplayer shooter or a racing game.

Also some people seem to forget that you don't just "try harder" in order to make a game look just as good at 60 as it does at 30. There's only so much a developer can do. The hardware is the limiting factor.

Horde has to be 30 because there's so much going on. On later waves you've got tons of enemies on the field, sometimes a boss too, plus all the power beacons everywhere and every weapon that was dropped by an enemy, plus all the fortifications you've built (especially if you go balls deep in sentries). Campaign was placed at 30 for stylistic reasons, meaning they wanted it to look as nice as possible with cool setpieces at 1080p, and I agree with this trade-off because it's just a cinematic campaign.

I dunno, I iust bought myself a gaming rig and play it on Ultra with 1440p and 60fps and while it looks nice, all i could really think to myself was "THIS is what all the hubbub is about?" It's really not a big deal after a certain point.
