My girlfriend got a Kia last year and it's had absolutely no problems or issues. I found a Kia Soul at the same place she got her car by sheer coincidence, that matches almost everything I'm looking for right now.

Anyone here own one? Success stories? Horror stories? Any advice would be appreciated!

A friend of mine has one and I've been in it, the interior is nice, the stereo is pretty good too (although I'm not sure if that was an extra option or something), it had a nice aesthetic (imo of course), it rides smooth, it feels spacious despite it's more compact size, and we took a road trip in it and the mileage is great. As far as I know she's had no issues with it at all aside from the radio randomly locking up and becoming unusable, she had to take it to the dealer to get the BCM or something reprogrammed.
Are you looking at one new or used?

It's a box on wheels but if that's the look you're going for, you can't do better than the Soul. Seems like your mind is already made up anyway.

They're an ugly box on wheels, and I wouldn't drive a Kia ever. Not for any real technical issues I have with the vehicles, but just as a personal preference.

My friend at work has one. He likes it but got really lucky because some major problem with the engine just happened at like 97,000 miles and the warranty covered it until 100,000. I think it's a really ugly car personally but hey, I guess that's just my preference. I love my Civic and wouldn't ever trade it in for a Kia.

What's funny is that he's a ginger and we give him shit and say that's the only way he'll ever have a soul.

I'm honestly not into the look of the car that much, other than the color since I do like green. That said, my mind is mostly made up just because I need a hatchback for work, and there aren't a ton of CUVs in the area for an affordable price. I've always ALWAYS wanted a Subaru, but they are prohibitively expensive :(

I mostly just wanted to hear of anyone had any red flag stories/experiences with the model aside from it being kind of ugly lol. I drove a fucking PT Cruiser for like 7 years in the past, I'm not worried about looks.

Right now I found a couple used ones that caught my eye. The one from the dealer my girlfriend bought from specifically is only a year old, had 30K mileage, since it was a rental car for first year of its life. Her car had a similar situation, and like I said she's had absolutely zero problems in over a year of driving it.

I got a 2016 model and in very happy with it.

Main reasoning for getting it was the amazing gas mileage and compact size, making parking easy. Theyre very low cost too

The Cube is absolutely disgusting. Souls are dopey looking but the Cube is the absolute worst looking car I've ever seen. Not a big fan of the Nissan Juke either with all its random unnecessary curves and shit.

I don't trust Kia. My mom had one that had electrical issues, and died if she drove thru a puddle.

Was it a Soul or one of their sedans? Cuz I've heard lots of stories of people with low to the ground cars stalling out after going through a puddle, I don't think that's exclusive to Kia.

I drove one as a rental on a business trip and it just felt cheap as all hell. I would personally probably never buy a Kia.

The problem I have with Kias (and Hyundais by extension) is that although some of them have decent designs now, things tend to fall apart (perhaps literally after you've racked up enough miles) in the inside. Quality, textures, fit and finish, etc. There isn't a single Kia offering I'd purchase over its Honda/Toyota equivalent.

My cousin has one, had it for a couple of years now. Haven't heard her mention any problems with it. Then again I never inquired about it.
