I dunno I feel like 8 hours for FF7 is incredibly speedy!

On the one hand, I always love longer runs. On the other, 8 hours is a huge chunk of time that they could've done like 6 other decent length runs. But they put it on in the midnight cycle which I think was good timing.

I was excited for it, at least. Maybe they're just trying to catch that highly sought after "me" demographic.

also wow this ff7 run is BORING
and I usually LIKE long rpg runs
like I liked the chrono trigger run
there was a lot of interesting routing
and interesting skips
just interesting tech in general and watching it did not feel boring
because there were noteworthy decisions going into most moments
but this has way too much cutscenes and linear gameplay
this is like, maybe a run that should be done ONCE, EVER
and never again
save this kind of run for rpg limit break. do whatever the fuck you want at rpg limit break.
there is tech here too but this game is too long
and not broken enough

The current schedule has Earthbound projected to start at 11:51 PM Eastern tonight. Keyword being projected, since we're obviously not going to run exactly (or probably, anywhere close) to that schedule.

I thought it was a good run (I did miss five and a half hours in the middle for sleep though). More broken doesn't always mean more fun, imho.

But I do agree this is the sort of thing you only need to do like once every five years or so.

I like long speedruns, but I understand why they are rarely included at AGDQ/SGDQ. You only have so many hours in your event. This is why we rarely see games that take longer than 2 hours to run and the ones that do are very popular. Assuming no game goes over its time limit 9 games will have taken over 2 hours to complete and outside of Earthbound Final Fantasy VII took at least twice as much time to complete than all of the other games.

Personally I would love if they did a second stream for long games (it doesn't have to be continuously playing), but I doubt it will ever happen.

Yeah, I totally agree. I love runs where the runners are skilled at the game itself more so than skilled at pulling off glitches. I understand a lot of people feel the opposite but it's always been my personal preference.

FFVII relied more on "exploits" and planning than glitches. It was fun to watch once but not something I'd be excited for every year.

Edit: He got cut off by someone on his mic half way through reminiscing and told everyone to disregard his story. Which of course made twitch latch onto it like hawks. Can't tell if troll or very confused.
