My main problem with it was that the main plot was really stupid, and you had to complete the entire game to get a slightly less shitty ending.

Genuine complaint: constantly developing DLC when the PC port was insanely buggy. IE, wanting more money when the base game was terribly optimized on higher end computers without it actually being justified. Crysis looked amazing for its time and had a great physics engine. AK was just okay. Not amazing.

Opinions: too much use of the Batmobile. The identity of the main villain is fairly obvious. Some people hated the inclusion of something (it happens during the part where Batman is in a chemical plant) - you'll know when it happens. No, that isn't a spoiler at all.

Bat mobile (or should I say bat tank)becomes heavily featured in puzzle solving and boss battles. Other than that the enhancements to the combat and flying were great. Even the batmobile was pretty good for driving around.

For me the abrupt ending and the way they handled getting the real one. The tank battles were a bit much but not as much as a dealbreaker for me.

Sure thing. OP if you do happen to read this, it's a minor spoiler for like... 45 minutes into the game, if even that. So don't worry honestly.

Ace Chemicals. Someone pops up and people think that person was just placed there because it wouldn't be Batman without them. That said, some people thought it was pretty good.

Battank is just stupid, Batmobile occasionally feels forced

Predator Rooms are the worst in the series by far. There's a ton of bloat in all the various gadgets and enemy stuff and the level design in this game doesn't accomadate. There's no amazing levels like Wonder Tower either.

The beat-em-up part has gotten kind of stale at that point and again there's some bloat. Medics? Seriously? Also, everything totally pauses when you go into gadget-select, taking you out of the game. In all previous entries, Batman could switch gadgets in real time. There are button combo shortcuts, but that's mostly for combat. Expect to be taken out of the tension a lot during Predator Rooms.

The map is very big in this game but the scope of secrets, references, etc did not increase. So basically you have a ton of map space that's not utilized very well except to briefly see as you speed by in a scripted Batmobile chase or an at this point godawful Riddler puzzle. There's like physics-based Riddle puzzles or some shit now, it's just not fun anymore and there's too much.

It's pretty poorly balanced, max upgrade cape flying is faster than the Batmobile, Batman got ANOTHER takedown technique called 'fear takedown' or something which can basically become a free 3-4 person knockout. Seriously, Predator Rooms suck in this game, can't re-iterate that enough

Mission structure is just terrible. Every villain has their own sidequest chain that gets tracked in this circular menu. So basically, each villain has their own gameplay type when interacting with them. You always beat up a room of thugs to stop smuggling for Penguin. You always do a bank Predator Room or equivalent for Two-Face. IIRC you always do a Batmobile chase for Firefly. It's soulless and baffling that they thought it was a good design choice.

Honestly the game's only redeeming factor is the story, which is arguably the only vaguely memorable one in the series, but not even because of Scarecrow, who ends up feeling pretty lame and nonthreatening despite being foreshadowed and hyped up so hard. Or Arkham Knight, who is a pansy bitch.

Biggest complaint is over reliance on Batmobile where it wasn't really needed.

Second was everything to do with Arkham Knight, which doesn't really matter right now, but most figured out who he was the second he was revealed. The rest figured it out the second they announced the pre-order DLC.

It was funny though when people figured out who it was and the devs were all like na man it ain't so and so, really we swear! It's a totally new character! Then it was who everyone thought.

Like I really don't understand what they were thinking announcing playable Red Hood pre order DLC when they were trying so hard to downplay Arkham Knights identity.

The Batmobile feels kinda shoe-horned into all of it. Like, it's amazing Batman even managed to get around in Arkham City without it because Gotham is apparently designed with the thing in mind. Complete with underground race tracks!

Speaking of underground race tracks, there are like 4000 Riddler trophies too. That's an exaggeration but it doesn't feel like it when you're doing them. You get the idea after 50 of them, by the time you hit 100 they've basically exhausted all their more clever ideas and then there are still 140+ to go!

It's better than City, by far. I only say that Arkham Asylum is the best because it was a tight and focused game, and it captured the creepiness of the asylum perfectly. City was alright, but the actual city felt too generic to me. The city in Knight was perfect, this is a map I want to fully explore.

It felt like for every improvement to the gameplay, there was one more setback. I still think it's good, but I put hundreds of hours into City for both replaying the story and going through the challenge maps and mastering all the characters. I couldn't even bring myself to 100% the game, a first in the series for me.

In terms of raw gameplay and certain set pieces, it should be the best in the series. But so much gets in the way of those things.

It's really crazy just how much confidence either the devs or publisher had in the twist that everyone with more than a cursory interest in the bat family could guess. Like the PlayStation doesn't even let you record the cutscene in which it happens.

At the same time though, there's a much earlier twist already alluded to in this topic that no one saw coming, which I think was actually great and helped liven up the game and story a whole lot.

Personally, I loved the game , and my only complaint is that I did not enjoy any of the vehicle based stealth missions. Otherwise, everything else was as good or better than previous entries. The story wrapped itself up nicely, and I really enjoyed Batman's personal struggle. Batmobile was a nice way to change things up from previous games, as the puzzles did start to stretch thin by Knight.

I still think it may be the best looking game of this gen. The close ups of the face are so meticulously animated and detailed.

If it's this, that was actually my least favorite part of the game, story wise. He just seemed shoehorned in for the sake of it. I literally groaned out loud when he showed up.

As far as the gameplay, other than the Batmobile it seems like they took a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. I understand why, but fatigue just naturally sets in after 4 games, not to mention so many other games over the years aping the combat.

And fuck the Riddler trophies being tied to the ending.

I absolutely enjoyed Arkham Knight and even enjoyed the AR Challenges extensively (including the races), but if there's one legitimate gripe I'd have with the game is the pathetic excuses for bosses most of the time. There's two bosses that I remember from the game, both for different reasons. One is the Riddler mech boss, which was actually pretty fun. The other is the Deathstroke boss...which was a severely disappointing rematch with that Cloudburst tank. I remember being so damn disappointed after the buildup of a proper melee rematch with him that I quit the game for the night when I saw how it ended.
