Current Events > This morning, I got kicked out of a movie theater.

I bought a ticket to go watch Guardians of the Galaxy II for 10:20am.

Got there at 9:45am and bought a large popcorn and drink combo. Went into the theater happily eating my popcorn. 10:10am, I finished 1/2 of the popcorn, so I went back out to get a refill, so that I could eat while watching the movie.

10:30am, I am still all by myself... no other guests... and the screen is still black.

I called the AMC customer service desk, and they told me that the show got cancelled. While I was on the phone with the rep, an usher came in and kicked me out.

I went to the customer service desk and asked what happened. Apparently the projector broke and all shows in that specific theater got cancelled. Because I bought the ticket through a 3rd party app, they couldn't refund me the $5 I spent for the movie... so instead, he gave me four movie vouchers, good for any time and show, at any AMC location, including premium (3D, IMAX, etc.). He also refunded me the large popcorn and drink.

That's some good customer service right there.

Yea I actually sort of felt bad on that one. I told him I already got a refill and everything, so I'm okay; but he insisted on giving me a refund on it.

So you just walked in? No one checked your ticket first and informed you that theater was closed? You sat in an empty out of order theater for 20 minutes and no one noticed? Why would they not just move the showing to a different room?

So the theater has two "wings". Each wing has a ticket checker. The ticket checker scanned my digital ticket and told me to go to theater #9. I went there, and the screen was black. Typically, they have a pre-show, but I assumed because this movie's so old, they don't bother with that. As for lack of audience, I also didn't think much of it because of the time (10:20am!), the movie (it's old!), and other movie releases (Spiderman just came out).

Movie's supposed to start at 10:20am, and no trailers started... I decided to wait 10 minutes before complaining. And I don't know why ticket checker nor the usher told me the show got cancelled; they saw me at least three times (walking in, walking back out for the popcorn refill, then walking back in).

That's some good customer service right there.

Yeah it is. I'm impressed, tbh.
