Does it bother you at all or do you just ignore it?

So where do you fall on the available poll choices? For me, it got to me when I was a kid, and made me inquisitive about why a person could be so rude. But now I just am like fuck it and go on about my day.

My girlfriend got really pissed off about this happening to her the other day and then got mad at me because I wasn't equally pissed off about it. That's what prompted this poll.

Some people are just assholes.

I ignore it. They may not of heard me, be in a bad mood or any other reasons. They are not required to say/do anything back regardless of if they know me or not. Same goes for when I say "thanks" to people or make a gesture to say thanks(like a nod of the head) if they do something for me. I don't normally say anything to people unless they say something first though.

Still I admit I find it nice when some random person says "good morning" or something like that to me when passing so I normally say the same back because they made me feel good so I want to return the favour. I get this from the old folk mostly and even on some occasions I'll have a brief conversation with them.

I think you need to talk to a psychiatrist.

Wanting to hurt someone because they don't respond to you is sociopathic.

Ok when a person says hello or excuse me and you can't at least look at the person. You need help. Help with basic human social skills. Walking by and saying hello and nothing in return is a slap in the face as far as I'm concerned.

Have you even considered the possibility that maybe they didn't hear you?

I forgot GameFAQs is like this. People are extra meanie-headed here. You're not being unreasonable, but you shouldn't want to hurt them. I lowkey agree with you though. I wish more people were cordial like they used to be. Things are changing. They already have a lot since when I was a kid.

But don't take these people's replies as gospel. People here love to bait you into an argument to make sport of you for their amusement. It's best to ignore them or to troll them back. Of course if you troll them back well and they get butt devastated by it, they might moderate your post for it.

Regardless of the distance, some folks may be hard of hearing or lost in thought. One of my coworkers regularly greet people when passing by. Sometimes he says it clear enough and other times he mumbles to the point it sounds more like a grunt and I can't tell what he is saying. And then there's folks like me who occasionally get stuck with my stuttering that I can't say a simple "thank you" or "hello" before being too far away.

OneTimeBen posted...

It cost nothing but they don't exactly owe you a response either. I don't deny it is annoying but to be so fed up that you want to inflict pain is a bit much as well.

And again, if you truly felt this way, you really should see a psychiatrist.

It's not normal to want to inflict bodily harm on another person just because they didn't respond to you.

Nice assumption there.

I have said hello to people walking nearby and they didn't respond. Multiple times.

Either:

A) They were engrossed with their phone and didn't hear me.
B) They had earbuds in their ears and were listening to music and didn't hear me.
C) They were zoned-out and weren't paying attention to their surroundings.
D) They were shy and didn't want to respond.
E) They didn't feel like responding at the time.

All of these situations were confirmed after, when I plainly asked them what was up and most apologized for not responding. Not once did I feel like physically-lashing out at them. Not everyone is a social butterfly and wants to respond to someone saying "hey", "hi", or "hello". Some people just want to be left the fuck alone.

And again, some of us do not deny it is annoying. But wanting to hurt them for a lack of response isn't normal either. One of my coworkers sometimes walk around doing a calculations in his head so it isn't out of the norm for him to ignore you when he simply does not want to stop his train of thoughts and that's fine. He is actually really friendly and social when not focusing on his work.

33 years old here and age have nothing to do with it either. My own boss is in his 50's and sometimes he would greet back and sometimes he says nothing. I don't know what is going on in his mind so can't assume his attention is on those around him.

Assuming being ignored bothers you this much, I can't help but wonder if it is just some ego of yours or desire for attention that makes it bothers you so much.
