I do wonder why with all the lefty mobilization this isn't a thing that's been tried.

Flood the GOP with moderate/liberal Republicans, and register groups of liberals/leftists to vote for them in primaries.

I remember reading that they changed the rules to that to compete AGAINST Trump and it ended up helping him with Florida. I think only state it hurt him was Ohio

No one in the GOP will run against Trump. Stop falling for these pipe dreams.

You should be more concerned about the DNC putting forward some loser like Elizabeth Warren or Nancy Pelosi. Or god help you, Hillary or Bernie again.

You're acting like an incumbent has never faced a primary challenge before?

Trump isn't exactly well-regarded by several factions in the GOP.

If Trump's idiocy continues to dominate the news and drive their favorables down, it's not outside the realm of possibility that a candidate from a different faction of the GOP would mount a challenge.

I'm not saying it will happen or that it's even likely to happen (much less actually succeeding), but it's more of a possibility than it was for someone like Obama or Bush

A) Nancy Pelosi will never run for President or be drafted to run. Ever. I will stake my wife's life on it.
B) I never understood the (what can be best described as rabid) obsession with Warren and Clinton on the right. You guys talk about these people more than actual lefties do.

FWIW: I think someone will primary Trump, but not a chance Jeb Bush is running against a sitting GOP president.

My best guess is it will be a younger or lesser-known Republican looking to make a good name for themselves as "the anti-Trump Republican." Most of their opposition to him will be symbolic rather than substantive. I'd say Ben Sasse is a good guess, but my hunch is he's too chickenshit.

At any rate, I will not be registering with the Republican Party to deliver my support to this challenger.

This is an interesting point. I've thought of Ben Sasse myself, but I don't know. I think you may be right. Doesn't have the balls.

Whoever it is, they'll run against Trump in 2020, probably lose, then if Trump completely shits the urinal (if he wins the election again) they'll already have the anti-Trump street cred to run on in 2024

Also, none of his shitty past came out in the primaries, and Trump will go for the throat if he runs.

a.k.a the least educated and least motivated group out there. Much as we can go back and forth making fun of white liberal college kids (which believe me I am not a huge fan of) it can't be denied at least they look towards the future instead of eating up the lies like "coal is gonna make a big comeback". The blue collar workers of America have their strengths, political knowledge is far from one of them.

I said they look towards the future and don't blindly think it's 1950. The future means different things to different people and for me it doesn't mean thinking manufacturing jobs are coming back. Personally I think they could do a hell of a lot of good employing people to help fix the shitty infrastructure a lot of the country has but that would require either increasing taxes or god forbid taking some money away from the military.

In their minds, Roe v. Wade isn't a thing, that women are the victims of a wage gap, that black people are still being lynched by police, gays are in constant danger of being attacked, and the KKK march fearlessly in the streets.

Are you sure they don't think it's 1950?

Thank you for the intellectual dishonesty, that's why I come to watch you post. Let's ignore all nuance and make the argument about them "libruals" and how silly they are rather than how the GOP needs to find a hook and to stay true to their values and look ahead instead of parroting empty rhetoric about recapturing an era that is long gone.

Posts and be constructive Mal not all about winning an argument. Let's try and be productive and actually name ideas instead of attacking what we presume about each other. I mentioned focusing on infrastructure, now you name an idea instead of attacking a broad ideology.
