Basically, they're flushing the water pipes a LOT lately. And when they do, the water has a brownish tinge for a good long while, like 30 minutes, afterwards. And they're not exactly being forthcoming with the reason they need to flush it so often.

Yeah it's only for federal requests. If you want this kind of information you'd probably have to appeal to city council.

What state and what agency? What are you trying to get?
Most states have people at specific agencies that you can contact, or a contact number. You might have more success by googling your state and "public records request". --- ************************************************ http://i.imgur.com/iZdWIKJ.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

What state and what agency? What are you trying to get? State of Maryland, Carroll County. They flush the water system really frequently and it leaves the water running with a brownish color after they do it. He wants to know something about his town...apparently flushing too much. Yeah. Sorry, I didn't even read the OP. So, I do these a lot with work TC. It doesn't sound like you are looking for a record, you want an answer to a question which you won't get. You can request records, think forms/e-mails/documents that the agency will have on hand. They can charge you and it can be expensive if they have to do a lot of work so they will ask you to narrow your search or pay. You should start by finding out what department/agency is in charge of the sewers/water. --- ************************************************ http://i.imgur.com/iZdWIKJ.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!

TheRealItachi posted...He wants to know something about his town...apparently flushing too much. Fair enough. I think it's the town, but being a rural (well, officially "suburban development" on paper) it could be handled at the county level. Any suggestions on what I should specifically ask about? I mean, around here, it doesn't help that the town's plumbing is most likely ancient. --- let's lubricate friction material! ~nickels, Cars & Trucks ... Copied to Clipboard!

You can request a ton. Just throwing idea/concepts --
-any reports or documents from any inspection or review done on the water system or on a specific part of the water system, -invoices or purchase orders for any piece of equipment used to upgrade or replace any part of it -any e-mail or written correspondence to or from any town employee that includes..(search terms you think are important) You should also narrow the scope of this one to a time frame like the last year. - public comments or hearings related to the water system or public works. The key is starting broad so the person putting the stuff together will include relevant things but being specific enough so you don't just get a huge bill. I have done these before for e-mails with search terms and have gotten a bill for a few $K just if they wanted to run the search. They can also not do them if they think you are requesting them for no reason or just to be annoying so don't piss off the person that ends up speaking with you if you if you actually go through with it. --- ************************************************ http://i.imgur.com/iZdWIKJ.jpg ...
