Sorry for the blogfaqs but I feel like posting this

Basically, they've been divorced for more than 10 years now and he is remarried. Thing is, he thinks that he is entitled to put my mom in the middle whenever his (now all adult) children do something he doesn't like. He has a long history of coming over here and acting like he gets to boss everyone around. This has really pissed me off and I have barely talked to him over the past 5 months or so as a result.

Tonight I hear a knock on my door, I go answer it and am shocked to see him standing there. He has been asked many times not to invite himself into the house. When I confront him on this, he claims that my mom (his ex wife) told him over the phone that he could come over. She was not here when this happened.

I immediately told him that he needed to leave. I was able to get him to walk downstairs but he just stood in the hallway, refusing to leave. I went into the garage and grabbed a baseball bat, walked back into the house, walked to the front door and opened it, and then while holding the baseball bat in one hand, physically shoved him towards the door and out of the house, then slammed it and locked it.

I then tried calling and texting my mom to ask if she had in fact given him permission to do this. She just replied, she did not give him permission. She did not know he was going to do this.

My dad then sent me a bunch of texts claiming that because he had texted me multiple times over the past four days saying that he was going to come over (I haven't replied to a text from him in ~ 5 months and usually delete them without reading them), and that because he texted me multiple times, it was fine for him to come over, even though I never responded or gave any acknowledgement of said texts whatsoever.

So yeah, /endrant

I'm hesitant to call the police for a few reasons. He's a lawyer, and he's particularly good at talking his way out of those kinds of situations. I worry that he would be able to turn the police on me in a situation like that. Also, he kept claiming that my mother gave him permission to be there, and since it's her house, that would allow him to be there. That ended up being a lie though, but I didn't find that out until over an hour later.

He rarely drinks and he has none of the traditional "vices" like drinking, drugs, gambling, etc. He also doesn't own any guns. I am not even slightly afraid of him being violent towards me. What I'm afraid of are his lawyer powers.

Yeah, what he did is legally trespassing, might be some more stuff too. You can't enter someone's house without permission, and if someone outright denies permission, or rescinds it, they're legally trespassing (yes, you can call the cops on people who refuse to leave using this.)

If he's a lawyer and does this regularly, then in all likelihood trying to goad you into some sort of legal shit is exactly what he's trying to do.
