The number of titles were right and your order of rating isnt too far off from the norm.

4 is unanamously considered the worst and 3 the best. That was my biggest clue.

Fair point. The bookends are good giveaways

In hindsight though, I think I'd switch 1 and 5 from my original post. I recall having a soft spot for the liberation missions. And IIRC there were no style changes in MMBN1, which was disappointing.

Pretty much.

Although, I have been known to place 6 on top from time to time. 3 has the best post-game, but 6 has the best combination of features and doesn't have some of the annoyances that 2 and 3 have (like the ice, fire and bubbles that block your way or those narrow paths in 3 that you need a certain program for). 2 has the best Navis IMO.

I know I'm the only one that would rank 4 this high, but my BN goes

6>4>2>5>3>1

And is pretty much determined by how many BS annoying af time waster objectives there are, with the notable exceptions of 5's liberation missions dropping them 2 spots and 3's overall polish bumping it over 1.

Yeah, as I mentioned above, that's partly why I sometimes put 6 on top. I do love 3's post-game though...

Im honestly more surprised at how low you rank 3 than how high you put 4.

My brother and I would always get the opposite versions.

So when he got folderback and I got navi recycle... Even child me knew I got shafted hard.

And when he got Delta Ray (Protoman is my favorite Navi) and I got Balance I knew White version was the trash version.

3 was the one where you had to trade some asshole a Yoyo card. Which pretty much killed it single-handedly. He wanted a Yoyo of a specific letter, whuch I didn't have, and couldn't remember where to find the enemy. When you finally found the SOB, you had to like 10 or S rank them to get them to drop the card, and chances are they were gonna drop tje other enemy's card instead. Which was total BS because IIRC this was during the main plot.

Not that having to sacrifice chips in dungeons was much better, but this yoyo affair was enough to drop the whole game to last place, if not for 1's lack of polish.

IIRC the one they were looking for you could just buy at one of the shops

Maybe you could. Without a master shop list, I had no way of knowing, though.

The whole thing was clearly designed to waste your damn time and it sure worked.

No battle network 2s finding the ice cures was designed to waste time. Randomly rescuing the keymaker AND knowing to speak to him (a random normal navi) which lead to the undernet and back to netopia are and back again and again.

Finding a yoyo is a cakewalk in comparison. I'd say getting the ice ball was more annoying if you didnt know to buy the fish program in beach area.
