You type in where you want to go and it tells you exactly how to get there. Someome linked it to me a while ago and I forgot. Thanks.

Yup it was Hyperdia. Also, I just got to Japan. I've traveled to a couple foreign countries and am surprised by how confused I am here. The country seems ridiculously well connected with trains but there are so many lines it is overwhelming.

Anyway, gonna go to the Electric City today, a cat cafe, Ueno Park, Shibuya, Shibjuku Gyoken National Park, and if time permits try and hit up Ginza. Any particular recommendations?

Tokyo is so confusing even for Japanese people (especially from other parts, but even for residents). I think other cities are a lot simpler!

I'm an Osaka guy, so I don't know much about Tokyo, but I would recommend Asakusa if you like temples and such (there should be a lot of street shops too, you can find some cool souvenirs there) and the Edo Museum. It has a lot of cool stuff like a replica of that famous bridge, a kabuki theater, and some old fashion houses you can enter and look around. Anyway, both of those places are really close to Akihabara

Okie, spent yesterday walking through Akihibara electric city, but everything was closed because it was before 10-11, went to Ueno Park, National Tokyo Museum, then took a train to Shibuya, went to Shibuya 109 and like a lot of the shops there, Yogoyashimi park ot whatever for a bit, then back to the Citan hostel.

Now the real question- I have had my plane in airplane mode this entire trip thus far. How bad is it for roaming charges to turn GPS on?

Your GPS should still work even in airplane mode. Not as great but it'll show you where you are on Google maps or most map apps.

Try going back to Akihabara on Sunday, they close the main street for part of the day so there aren't any cars.

I would hope your plane stays in airplane mode for the duration of your trip

Thanks. Phone stays in airplane was just wondering whether GPS adds to insane roaming charges.

I've been here for every month sans August.... September was a huge shock to me but I've been alright since October. Since the past couple weeks though my body just instantly starts melting once I get outside. And I know it's not just my Canadianess since other International students here are just walking pools of sweat at the start of classes

... part of me is glad I'm skipping out start of August. I can't possibly imagine Summer Comiket. My Otaku prof here said it's so bad inside that the sweat from everyone actually builds up in the top of the big rooms and condenses like a cloud.
