Because they are over compensating for something

same thing why it makes college teachers made if you call them teachers

It makes sense that they would want recognition for all it takes to get the title but it's kind of cocku to insist on it if somne calls you Mr. or Ms. by mistake.

Because they didn't spend 8 years at medical school to be called Mr/Ms. so-and-so!
