Goddamn Sony is incompetent as fuck with movies. How the shit do you spend 300 million on a Spider man movie..or any movie. Homecoming was almost half as expensive at 175 million and it's looking to well outperform ASM2. After just over a week it's at 469 million and it's not even out in Spain, Belgium, Japan or (most importantly) China yet.
Like unless you are an avengers movie chances are you aren't gonna get away with that shit. Disney is like the only Company with a solid chance of pulling off a good profit on a movie budget like that. Every MCU movie ever released aside form age of Ultron is cheaper than AMS 2 and generally by a notable amount. Yeah. Those movies probably spent a pretty big chunk of additional cash on advertising but ASM2 would have as well. So yeah, it was way too expensive for what it ended up bringing in
