Gemma Teller pretty much got all her loved ones killed.

I think she is the best intentionally worst character of all time. You're meant to just face palm at everything she does and when she succeeds it's actually feels like a moment. The scene with her and Cotton on his death bed was one of my favorite KotH moments. She was absolutely ruthless and almost rightly so and it spoke volumes about what she had to put up with.

I wouldn't even say either of those are terrible fictional characters though, but moreso they exist to make you not like them so it pushes you in a certain direction.

Right before his death she told him that she hoped he would live forever and some other stuff. He said "oh do you now?" Then laughed a little and died. He knew everyone was expecting him to die but he continued to stay alive even to the doctor's surprise up until that point.

Perrin's waifu? I can roll with that to a degree I guess, but one of the things about WoT was it's amazing character development so basically anyone from the series is a bad example here.

Extremely self centered and has a blatant lack of self awareness to the point that it borders sociopathic behavior. She gives intentionally horrible advice and should really learn to just shut her mouth. These seem like kind of minor character issues, but she takes them to new lengths. She's a constant embarrassment to her family.

Her and Hank deserve each other.

But King of the Hill is really just a big crockpot of all the savory flavors of horrible personality traits out there.

Even on King of the Hill, I disliked Hank more. At least Peggy let Bobby live his own life.

I'm guessing you're talking about a KotH character, but Randy Pearson from That 70's Show is definitely in the running for the worst TV character in history; certainly one of the worst sitcom characters, anyways. A couple other characters I'd nominate for this topic:

Sophia - Six Feet Under Even some of the (presumably few) people on this board who've actually watched through Six Feet Under might not know who I'm talking about; Sophia was a terrible character, both in terms of her personality & her role in the series. Her story arc was one of the dullest, most useless plotlines I've ever seen in a show, and the worst part is, the audience had to endure it for two seasons. It's up there with James Hurley's season 2 subplot in Twin Peaks... if anyone even remembers that one...

Windom Earle - Twin Peaks Speaking of which, Season 2 of Twin Peaks introduced a metric ton of new characters to the mix; some were gold, such as David Lynch's cameo role in the form of FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole, while many others were completely useless, such as Audrey Horne's suitor John Justice Wheeler, but ultimately my least favorite addition was Cooper's apparent nemesis Windom Earle. The sad thing is, this guy might've actually worked as a villain in a different TV series, but in a show where a villain as sinister, mysterious & terrifying as Bob exists, Windom Earle simply fell flat, and ended up being more obnoxious than anything imo.
