I do hate how no one really gave them a chance after Minutes to Midnight.

Everyone was / is so rooted to the angsty days that the true artistry gets buried. Even to the point of disregarding what they want...look at Hunting Party.

Just pisses me off tbqh. Yeah I get you remember them from when you were a kid, so do I. They never stopped making music.

Tons of people gave them a chance and tons of people continued to like them and some didn't. I don't think it was just because it was different than the didn't like, I think they gave it a try, didn't like it, and that was that.

I personally liked everything they've done except their newest to some degree. And I've always felt like A Thousand Suns was really underrated and got too much hate. Songs like Burning in the Skies and Blackout are great.
Burning in the Skies is a song that really hits home for me in a lot of ways for some personal reasons involving times where I've been seriously depressed and just feeling I deserved things that had happened to me and like I didn't deserve anything better.

Papercut is such an underrated song. One Step Closer was the first single in the US since Papercut only came out overseas but that song could have done just as much good for them here.

I'm pretty sure all of their albums debuted at #1. I think ATS even debuted the same week as a Maroon 5 album and beat it. They still had a very strong fanbase. Rock music in general isn't as popular as it was so obviously they weren't as big as when HT came out but as far as I know their tours are wildly successful all over the world. They are huge in Japan and Latin America as well.

I remember the opening beat for Papercut so well. I would regularly play it from start to finish because it was the first album I got as a kid that I liked every single song on.

Fuck man, this hurts really bad. I had such a shitty childhood and LP is one of the few good memories I have.

Honestly Living Things felt more like the first two LP albums than THP did. So many people acted like THP was them going back to their roots or doing their old sound but it really sounds nothing like HT/M at all. Living Things actually has a lot of tracks that match tbe HT/M formula but just with more electronic instrumental than just wailing distorted guitars. But as far as structure and stuff goes it feels similar. That actually has Chester and Mike going back and forth the way they did back in the day, the classic blend of melodic singing building up to explosive screaming. Songs like Lies, Greed, Misery for example come to to mind, it feels like old school LP to me but just with more electronic instrumentation like I said, which is obviously polarizing to some but I feel like LT is a lot more like their old sound than THP is.

Probably my favorite album. It's a tough call to pick 1 but that album got me through my toughest bout of depression. People can hate on LP's music all they want but it's a sad day for any music fan because we lost another yet another great vocalist.

I didn't say that tho. The guy I quoted did.

I say this, because despite there being a few songs on ATS that I like, I still felt like the album was rather weak overall. Personal opinion. It's not a bad album, but I would rank it pretty low compared to others.

i consider ATS to be their best album. It was definitely their most ambitious, and it paid off. It took a while for it to really grow on me because it was such a weird departure from even MtM, but one day I was spinning it and the whole thing clicked and I've loved it ever since.

A Thousand Suns could be argued as being ahead of its time TBH. I hated it at first but grew to appreciate it as I got older. Blackout is top 5 overall by Linkin Park for me.

I really love A Thousand Suns. As another dude said, it got me through a dark time in my life. I also really liked the Hunting Party. And honestly, when I listened to One More Light for the first few times, I was really upset at how "Pop" they made the album. After a few more listens, the songs seemed very catchy and I can enjoy the album in a "I don't agree with LP for going in this album but I can enjoy it for what it is" kinda way.

I've seen them twice in concert- once right after Minutes to Midnight, and once right after Hunting Part was released. Concert was fantastic both times. They were going to be touring at a venue I could have gone to at the beginning of August. I had thought about going, but didn't make plans and had kinda thought I would skip this tour since I didn't really care to see any of the other bands. Now I'll never get a chance to see them again, at least as the whole band. :/

I feel like I might have heard some of it one day, I can't remember, but I might as well check it and One More Light out. No reason not to.

I don't like how I sound when I say this, but I really don't like most of their older singles. I liked Numb, but pretty much every song that was in a Transformers movie I didn't like much. This is really making me realize how much I still like a lot of their songs though after looking through each album.

Linkin Park got me through some of the toughest times in my life, I probably wouldn't be here without them. So thank you Chester.

It hurts especially bad because I know what crippling depression feels like, and if it could beat someone like him all this time later, it never really goes away. At least he isn't in pain anymore. I feel horrible for his family.

That's not a healthy belief to craft for yourself. Chester had a lot on his plate being a famous musician and had a lot of physical pain, it seemed. The stress just overwhelmed him.

For someone like me and you, it would probably be easier to escape into solitude and let things chill the fuck out.

This speaks so much more about the power of depression as opposed to whatever "weakness" he may have had if it can make you choose to leave a family behind like that.

That PoS is not something you can completely kill, and it's always there...constantly whispering in your ear about how you aren't worth anything. However, everyone goes through this to varying degrees, and telling it to "fuck off" and move forward anyway is how you win those little battles.
