Everyone loves Batman right? Let's make a live action Batman series. Only one condition, Batman is not the star of the show. Batman is just a kid. The show is about James Gordon. All the villains that fans know and love won't appear as they look in the comics.

:|

Next idea, everyone loves X-Men right? Let's make a live action show about them. Except, this show won't have everyone's favorite characters. This TV show will be all about characters no one cares about.

Gotham is a fun show. It's bad in a good way. Like, it's so over the top with how it tries to be edgy that it's hilarious. And Gordon is a BAMF. And now Bruce is finally starting his masked vigilante stuff

I know this isn't about Legion but Legion is basically this and it's probably the best superhero show.

I mean there was a comic like that called Gotham Central where it was basically about the Gotham PD and it was better than almost all Batman comics.

I've seen some of Gotham though, and it was awful.

Agreed. Legion is phenomenal. But at least it's got a stellar director at the helm.

Though this new show is directed by Brian Singer, so it could go both ways (Great like X2 or shite like Apocalypse). And I only know the writer from Burn Notice which was a really average show. The new show is also gonna be in a school setting, so it's liable to be average/tropey as fuck.

Why didn't they just make a Gotham Central show? It should've been so simple and easy.

That's basically what Gotham is except it has a subplot of Bruce Wayne slowly becoming batman

Gotham is garbage but tc's reasoning is completely off base and his kind are the reason why we get endless samey movies of the same characters (3 spiderman movies with different actors, 2 of which retread origin stories...)

Yeah this. An actual cop show like Gotham Central that focuses on the lesser known characters in the comic world is a great idea. Hell it's the reason I liked the idea behind the short lived show Powerless. It's something very fresh that has been joked about in standup but should have happened sooner.

It's like that episode of Batman: The Animated Series where each of the cops like Bullock, Montoya and some rookie cop give an account of what happened when they went to arrest a gang at a warehouse. That was a good episode.

According to Capcom nobody knows who the X-Men are. So I'm gonna have to disagree about everyone loving the X-Men.

Because people like to take the easy way out.

They were going to make a tv show about Fables, but it didn't work out and the same network ended up making a watered down version known as Once Upon a Time.

Burn Notice was average? What?

As a whole, I'd say yeah probably a bit above average. There's some really great episodes and a cast with peeps like Jeffrey Donovan and Bruce Campbell (the heart of the show) make it shine. However, it rehashes a lot of the same plot points and situations. And there's some hilarious Deus Ex Machina shit that goes on, especially with Sam's "favors". At its best, it's witty and exciting. But a lot of the time, it doesn't break free from its formula to really make it engaging in the long term. And yeah, the formula is interesting, but there's 6 entire seasons of this stuff.

Don't remember it too much since I watched it as it was coming out. I remember liking all the Dominican Republic stuff since I'm from there, but I would've liked it better if they filmed on location (I'm pretty sure it's just south florida with an orange camera tint). If I remember, it was also a bit shorter than the other seasons, which I thought was a good move. Ending was also acceptable.

The Tick is a fucking amazing show, and it was cancelled far far far too soon, many shows not even half as good have lasted much longer.

I wish we would get a (serious) Batman TV show. I feel TV series would be a better way to tell a comic hero story.

1st season would be heavily Batman: Year One influenced with Batman vs the mob and corrupt City officials. Season 2 would be the power struggle between the old school mobster criminals vs the new "freaks". Season 3 has the classic villains in their glory. Robin could show up in season 3 or 4. Jason Todd and Tim Drake show up later down the road. And so on.

I was hoping for a Gotham Central show when I first heard about Gotham, but what we got is just silly. I really don't like how a lot of villains existed before Batman.

Hollywood: We've got the perfect idea for a live action sitcom!

It'll be about this family who lives in a suburban house, and the dad is a big goof who keeps on getting himself into trouble and the hot wife has to bail him out several times! And the kids think their dad is a big dork but they love him anyways! This has never been done before! START SHOOTING THIS NOW!
