Darth Vader was a threatening and scary guy, the first scene shows this and how everyone is scared shitless when he is around. Did you fall asleep during the part where Vader tells Luke "I'm your father" ? In TESB Vader could have killed Luke many times but since he does NOT want to kill his son he holds back.

In ROTJ Vader is so conflicted after he talks with Luke it is a wonder he could even fight, the guy wants his son at his side but has been loyal to Palpatine for a long time. In ROTJ Luke also taps into his rage after Vader says maybe he will try turning Leia to the dark side and goes crazy with his lightsaber assault on Vader.

In neither battle with Luke was his daddy ever going full power, family trumps everything for Anakin which is the only reason he went dark side to begin with.

Vader kicked ass in two movies and Kylo never kicked ass and got cucked by someone who didn't even know what a lightsaber was 5 minutes ago.

Vader is a badass, he saw and suffered some shit and was not someone you wanted to run into on the battlefield.

Kylo had one impressive scene stopping a blaster bolt, after that it was all downhill, and lets not even talk about how much he sucks ass as an apprentice, he couldn't even build his lightsaber properly that is how much of a failure he is.

This is almost exactly what happened in TFA. Kylo Ren was torn between the Light and Dark sides, chose the Dark Side by killing his father, and still felt conflicted (not to mention he also took a Bowcaster bolt to the gut). Rey was pissed off at Kylo for killing her mentor, plus she's probably more gifted with the Force (and the Force chooses sides), so it makes sense why Kylo wouldn't be fighting her at his fullest potential too. Also,
and this can't be stressed enough, Rey knows how to fight. It's the same style of fighting as she's used to,
but she knows enough to handle herself.

Look, I'm definitely not arguing Kylo Ren was more impressive or a better character than Darth Vader. I just think he's great in his own right, and he comes off as more interesting in his 1st appearance than Darth Vader did in his 1st appearance. So too does Rey in relation to Luke. I feel like so many people who shit on TFA compare it to the entire original trilogy instead of just to ANH.

Um no, no, and fucking hell no for all the bs you just posted, Luke was not perfect at everything, has a teacher, failed and then succeed after some coaching. Vader as a character in ANH is menacing, he is always a looming threat for the heroes.

Just comparing ANH to TFA here and ANH is still wiping the floor with TFA, better story, characters, believability, and a much better final act.

Keep defending TFA all you want, but Kylo and Rey are shit tier characters.

Rey wasn't perfect at everything either and Kylo was pretty menacing on Jakku and Takodana. But it sounds like you've already made up your mind, sooooo

TFA apes ANH badly and tries so hard to be like it without having a good cast of new characters, a joke/ineffective villain who acts like a baby who shit his diapers, and gets beaten by a nobody with no training.

Lets not forget the way they do a complete dis service to Han Solo sending him out like a stupid idiot.

The villain was the only consistent and worthwhile character in TFA imo. The rest of them were slapped together in like five minutes.

all it takes is one good Star Track film.
