Michael Phelps, the 32 y/o most decorated Olympian ever was going to face his most fiercest competitor yet...the GREAT WHITE SHARK as viewers were anticipating the race of a life time in open water..

But people on twitter were left angered and disappointed when it was revealed that Phelps was going to race a SIMULATED GREAT WHITE SHARK instead on the highly anticipated television program that kicked off Discovery Channel's Shark Week..

Phelps raised the fake CGI shark and was beat by 2 seconds in the 100 metre race filmed off Mossel Bay, South Africa

The computer simulated shark clocked in at 36.1 seconds and Phelps wearing a special suit clocked in at 38.1

Viewers understandably vented their anger on the false advertisement and called it a HUGE LETDOWN..

Scientists gathered data from actual sharks, including a hammerhead and a reef shark and then used the data to create SIMULATED SHARKS that Phelps ran against..

Phelps even went underwater in a cage to meet his opponent, or at least a shark like his opponent and then challenged the great white shark and he was even given a swimsuit made like the skin of a shark to help him cut through the water faster and a fin made similar to that of a shark..

After the race, Phelps said "They swim so fast, it's almost like a bullet. I don't like taking silver medals but i'll take one against a Great White"...

Did you expect him to race against a REAL Shark? let's see what people will vote
