They were like "Lets make a FF7 remake!" and then they did some models and cutscenes and shit and were like "ok this is just too hard lets just make crappy movie since all we really want is money from FF7 fans."

I don't know, FF15 (formerly known as XIII versus) was vaporware for such a long time, and the moment it came out it sold like bread.

Though i have no numbers to back this statement but it just feel like all the time and money they wasted was made up.

the point is, leave it to square to release something with the name "Final Fantasy" on it and it will sell no matter how shit it is.

it's broken up into parts but each part is getting content added to it. They said they wanted you to be able to explore more of Midgar in the first game. So I'm guessing they're going to expand Midgar to the size of a modern FF world like 15 or something and have tons of new shit to do.

Of course this likely also means new characters as your party before leaving Midgar is not very large.

They're adding more content to it, yeah, but how much? There's a fine line between extra content that actually adds to the story and extra content that starts coming off as more filler than anything else. We want a remake, not some weird combination of a remake and spin-off.

Of course this is all up in the air right now, best we can do is wait for information and details. I'm still upset about the episodic shit and I'm expecting the worst, really.

right now the only thing that's confirmed is you'll get to free-roam explore Midgar where as you were kind of railroaded off it in the first game. Everything else was purely my speculation.

I am guessing it's being done this way because it's easier to make set pieces for just their steampunk urban environment at once instead of having to have the steampunk urban environment shit on top of the entire rest of the world map.

Crisis Core was a fucking pile of shit. I heard Dirge of Cerberus had a decent story but gameplay sucked compared to its competition. While a lot of people like Advent Children, I personally feel like it's basically Final Fantasy: The Force Awakens in terms of repetitive shit that happened from the original game.

FF7 was my first real rpg. I beat Mario RPG but that doesn't really count. Anywho when I left Midgar and saw the world map for the first time it blew my mind. I thought the whole game would be in the city.

he was responsible for most of the events regarding Aerith and Cloud, but Shinra and Sephiroth were the main plot drivers for the rest of the game.

It's the opposite in my opinion - the gameplay was at least serviceable, but the story was awful. You spent most of your time with new, forgettable characters while the characters you actually wanted to see were largely cameos (IIRC Vincent's only direct interaction with Cloud was through a damn phonecall). You had two villains that were essentially named Red the Red and Blue the Blue. About the only thing I really enjoyed in the story was the tweesty return of Hojo, but he was quickly boxed out by a new, blander character.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I'll likely be happy with it no matter what, just knowing it's correlation to something that made me so happy before. Nostalgia sells. Asura's Wrath is one of my favorite games and that game is totally a movie.
