I'm trying to build an Elemental Hero/Masked Hero deck and I'm wondering which board is most active to help me out. The wiki doesn't have too much info on where to start.

Anyone here play?

I just built a Six Samurai and Monarch deck and they're pretty fun. I was never into yugioh seriously until now (even though I still just play for fun.) before I just put random cards together with no structure or theme.

I've been into the Heroes for a while but there's just so many of them. I just learned about the Vision Heroes and I've no idea where to start.

Alright, neat. Could you help me by listing what all the elemental heroes are? Including the masked and Vision ones? I haven't been keeping up. Last I played was when XYZs were rampant and Pendulums didn't exist yet so idk if they added new hero cards or not. The wiki is acting up on my phone and I don't think it's giving me a full list.

On HEROs:

Basically they suck, at least pure Elemental ones do. The issue is that despite having so many monsters, none of them really get anything done on their own, and they don't have any reliable form of field spam or control or anything. They seem designed for your plays to be built around Polymerization (99% of their support cards for non-fusions are super outdated, besides A Hero Lives, and its cost is ridiculous), but their fusion monsters are too weak for the cost of a minimum of three cards (Poly + material).

Masked HEROs are substantially better, and that's because they only need one monster material, Mask Change is a speed-spell, and because they have Masked HERO Dark Law which should be the focus of your plays 99.9% of the time.

I don't even really remember what Vision HEROs are, I'm guessing its from manga like Masked HEROs are, but it's just HEROs with really loose fusion conditions, and they're not much better than most Elemental HEROs


Destiny HEROs are infamous for their Dark Armed Dragon shenanigans plus Destiny End Dragoon not being an awful monster, but key cards for the former are banned/limited nowadays and DED is slow and very good to rely upon alone anymore. They recently got new support because Aster Phoenix was a legacy character in Yugioh Arc-V but it was nothing to write home about neither the new support nor his role lol

That would be a lot and again a lot of them suck, to the point of being of the last archetypes to unironically have a major amount of normal monsters (discounting 'trial run archetypes' like Igknight)

I'll say that Elemental HERO Shadow Mist is a must (dark attribute = Dark Law from Mask Change as well), and probably Blazeman and Prisma

Probably shouldn't run anything > level 4, tributing in a hero deck would be ridiculously slow and most of them aren't really gonna do much anyway. You're not playing True Kings here

At this point while writing I realized you may not have YGOPro or a DuelingBook account. Get one of these if not both since they let you build a digital deck and let you search out the entire library of Yugioh cards, including unreleased cards from scans.

Run 3 E- Emergency Call because despite this being an outdated archetype, Emergency Call is one of the best and most straightforward support cards ever. A Hero Lives is also necessary because it can summon Shadow Mist, basically turning into a free Dark Law on your first turn which can completely cripple many decks)

I'm gonna say that Dark Law, Anki, Acid, Koga, and maybe Blast are the only Masked HEROs you should run. Of course, run 3 of Mask Change

Fun fact: In the OCG you can actually run only one Shadow Mist, but you're allowed to have two of Elemental HERO Stratos

Awesome! Thanks for your help. And like I said, I'm pretty casual. I don't compete in tournaments. I just play for fun at comic book stores and with my friends.

I used to play on Dueling Network but that's as far as I went for competition.

If you're playing IRL casual you'll probably have a better time because money becomes relevant so not everyone and their mother is playing True Kings and Zoodiacs
