Chances are if you ever rode a certain ride and thought to yourself "omg this could break apart and kill me at any second ", you were actually right. One of my favorite rides used to be The Swings. Never mind the rather obvious structural risks involved with riding that thing (ie: a swing snapping off). I won't ride it anymore after seeing a video of 9 passengers getting crushed by the machine collapsing on them. I would feel fine riding at some place like Disney World where they do whatever to avoid bad publicity (which means more frequent maintenance). But riding one of those things in a hokey rusted up small town carnival....oh hell no. The reason some of those machines bust up is because they're showing their age. And if they don't got a TEAM of pros checking them at least every couple days, the rides are fuckin hazards. That being said some things do slip through the cracks once in awhile.
