Some folk are self conscious and/or simply don't want you having a picture of them to do with as you please. Personally it doesn't bother me if I have my picture taken anymore.

Maybe it's because people have a tendency to post photos on Facebook and other social media sites. There are still some people that believe they should be allowed some right to privacy.

I fucking hate it when people take my picture when I don't know it's happening.

Are you talking about when the person is the subject of the picture, or they're just incidental to the picture? I'm hoping you have the sense to already know why someone would complain about the former. When it's the latter, well, not everything's about them. Some people just don't like appearing in any capacity in any pictures, for various reasons.

what an original and hilarious post!!!

I think it's kind of a silly thing to get upset over tbh. If you're in public, it's fair game.
I take mental pictures of everyone, bruuuuh

I think plenty of people get upset over silly and unimportant things, but that doesn't stop them from getting upset over them, it doesn't really stop them from having the right to be upset about them, and it usually doesn't stop the rest of society from seeing me as the asshole for provoking them.

Like it or not, other people DO have other opinions than you do, and the fact that you may not be bothered by something doesn't mean other people can't be bothered by it, or that they can't be annoyed when you disrespect them by dismissing their concerns out of hand.

What you're describing is how 10-year olds think - "I don't care about something, therefore no one should care about it". It's a mode of pre-abstract thinking that humans are supposed to develop out of around the same time we go through puberty.

totally agree. im just asking, sort of playing devil's advocate, trying to understand it. not wanting your picture taken is just a somewhat foreign concept to me but i get it.

edit: like how the fuck does asking why it bothers people = "I don't care about something, therefore no one should care about it"

you could probably make your points a lot better if you werent so overly verbose.

If a stranger takes a picture of someone, that someone might get self-suspicious about having that picture posted on social media and presented in a way they are not comfortable with. Tons of people use Snapchat or Instagram to take creepshots of strangers and make some passive aggressive comment about them even though that person isn't doing anything wrong.

Because some of us are self conscious and in my case very unphotogenic and people ought to respect when they're told no. If someone can't respect that, they suck.

Even my family and boyfriend have to argue with me to get photos.
