GhettoFlip 07/31/17 12:49:17 AM #1:	I used to be a big hip hop fan. It was the first genre of music I got into when I first "got into" music. First album I ever bought with my own money, during the 6th grade, was Talib Kweli's Train of Thought(Reflection Eternal), second was Mos Def's Black on Both Sides, and third was, naturally, Black Star. From then on, I got into De La Soul, ATCQ, Pharoahe Monch, Organized Konfusion, Wu-Tang and their solo stuff, Common, The Roots, the Pharcyde, Del, Hieroglyphics, Outkast, Gang Starr, DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, MF Doom, Nas, Mobb Deep, Big L, Az, Jeru the Damaja, Dead Prez, Biggie, Redman, Public Enemy, Masta Ace, Rakim, KRS-One, J-Live, People Under the Stairs, Atmosphere (lol), etc basically mostly classic, underground, and NYC hardcore hip hop (which is weird cause I'm from LA but I never was big into mainstream west coast hip hop) I never have a desire to put on any rap to listen to anymore, but if someone (or like a store, gym, bar) plays the artists above, I'll generally enjoy it. But new rap? It's garbage. Even the "good ones" like Kendrick Lamar I dislike. I hate his and most every current rappers' voice, flow, and beats. Last and only hip hop album/EP/mixtape from the past 7 or so years that I liked was 1999 by Joey Badass. Never even heard of him. Kendrick is the tbh, I can't imagine not liking GKMC and TPAB at least but to each their own. Honestly he feels like the closest modern rapper to the 90's golden age. Tech N9ne is someone I'm saying more for style, flow, and technical ability over raw substance, but he has that too thrown in his discography, especially when he mentions his personal struggles with religion and stuff. Aww Yeah? Off his last album was good.
