I bought Pokemon Master Trainer on Thursday from an retro game store. I can't seem to find the general Pokemon forum on this site or the board game forum on this site so i post here.

It was as fun as I can remember. It's a faster version of the gameboy games. It can be time consuming looking for evolutions of your pokemon. It's fun collecting the pogs. But catching a specific pokemon can be a bit tedious.
Strategies are luck based. In order to win, you need to beat a single member of the elite Four or Gary. Last night i won with using a Taros againts Laureil's Lapras.

My cousin and I played it a shitload, but we sorta changed the endgame rules

We would amass our squads and then battle each other at the end. I don't remember exactly how it worked, but it was fun as fuck

Me and my friends would battle each other using the Rival cards. The game ended when we all rivals were beaten. we also battled with our huge party.

Last night night I decided to add gym leaders to each town (Except for Viridian because Giovanni would be too strong for starter pokemon).
This was the line up:
7 gym leaders:
Brock: Geodude, Diglett
Misty: Starmie
Lt. Surge: Raichu, magneton,
Ericka: Victrabell, Vileplume
Sabrina:, Alakazam, Mr.Mime
Koga: Gengar, Arbok,
Blaine: Arcanine, Magmar,

We wouldn't pass or use the town abilities until the gym leaders were beaten. The winning trainer gets all the gym leaders pokemon. The pokemon the gym leaders uses were the actual POGs. If a trainer has all his pokemon knocked out, he restarts to pallet town.

My friend actually got Articuno and Moltress. But my Blastoise fainted his Articuno. He had Pikachu but I beat Lt.Surge before he got there. So I had Raichu. He forced traded Blastoise. So I had no pokemon with a power of 8. But I caught a Taruos and beat Loriel.

I'm thinking if I should have this gym line up for all subsequent games or randomize the tokens each gym has.

That's cool, I liked to try it again someday, I had that game when I was little. I don't remember how to play it really since it's been awhile, but me and my cousin played it quite a bit before we lost like half the pog things, was fun.

Can't recall seeing it at all offhand, which is weird because most Pokemon merch was fairly visible.
