Keep in mind you're talking about the contest won by Marche and Adelbert Steiner, and the contest with Red Mage in the top 5 and Aki Ross in the top 20. I mean, if this is what pushes you over the edge in how much you enjoy this thing, then you're late to the party. I'll admit the nominations usually go a bit better than this, really sad that old timers are getting ignored and left out here in favor of new weirdness, but it could always be worse, remember.

That's a fair analogy I guess. Guest characters tend to be given storylines to fit whatever game they're added to. In this case though, it's a real life person given a storyline for the game instead. It's still sort of the same scenario though you're right; something adapted to fit the game, but not really originating there.

You don't have to convince me, I don't host this. I doubt I'd allow it personally.

Really, there is a problem but no one seems to care about it. Opening the door this wide yet slamming it shut randomly on other things (Kingdom Hearts) seems disjointed. Like, we let in Ashley Riot because his game takes place in Ivalice. That's how it is, right? Despite that Ashley never appeared in a legitimate Final Fantasy game. Well, in Kingdom Hearts the characters there coexist with Final Fantasy characters too, in the same exact way. They share a universe. Why doesn't this make Kingdom Hearts eligible?

For the sake of opening doors we now have stuff that really shouldn't be in the contest in, but it's ran by a host who refuses to let Kingdom Hearts in based on that same exact rule. I'm not saying that he should, but there is no sense in not allowing them based off this poor precedent that's been set.

Ashley Riot's name, did not originate in a FF universe until FFXII confirmed it was in the same universe. I also find it pretty debatable that Dangerous Ariana originated in a FF universe, since her bio even states she's basically not from that universe at all. But all of this is okay so long as we keep KH out of here I guess.

I only allowed Ashley Riot to stay in because he was already in when I took over. That was FFD's executive decision, not mine.

I guess I could go ahead and rule out Vagrant Story now because I agree with you, but nobody's nominating those characters anyway.

It's unfortunate because I'd like to help out Shadow, Reeve, Genesis, Paine, Shuyin, Dr. Cid and maybe some others but this is not like SMDC's nomination process, because basically it encourages you to go all in on one character otherwise they're not going to make it. This leaves more general sorts of characters to the wayside and failing to make the contest, despite some of them having extremely good runs in them in the past.

I think the fact that I only just noticed this topic shows that I won't be as active in SMFFFC this year as I was last year, but I can still nominate things! And hopefully get the thing I nominate out of the boot rounds! In particular there should be at least one World of Final Fantasy character. Reynn was my favorite but I think Tama would be the most fun, so
