Would you become a herbivore for your spouse?

(Exactly 80 characters, woo.)

For me, I'd say no. I'm already picky enough as it is without removing an entire food group. Plus I love chicken too much.

I wouldn't force anyone to do that on my behalf. But I probably would not be cooking meat for then either.

Herbivore, sure... probably not vegan since I'm a milk-drinker.

I've long wondered about the morality of what we're doing. I still eat meat because it's delicious and we need nutrients from it. Like, it's super hard to get a proper diet if you don't eat animal products. I wouldn't go vegan, but I might be willing to become vegetarian or something. My brother and his wife have chickens, so I know I can have ethically-sourced eggs.

I honestly think my wife eats more meat than I do. If anyone might try to convert the other... nah, I wouldn't do that either.

I'm not finding it difficult. Definitely get enough protein, healthy carbohydrates, and lots of fiber. Food variety has been great. But it'll vary for everyone. You certainly can just eat too much junk food. I mean, Oreos and potato chips are vegan. :P

No and it would very likely cause a major problem if we started having separate meals or if she wasn't willing to cook meat at all.
If she went full-blown GF vegan it's be splitsville, I can't deal with the pretentious ppl that spout that crap and they're strangers I'll only ever see for a couple of mins at a time max...

kettle corn and sorbet are vegan. Dark chocolate is vegan. Breakfast cereal and almond or coconut milk is vegan. Ben & Jerry's dairy-free ice cream is vegan.

There's a lot of snacky things and unhealthy deliciousness to be found without animal products.

kettle corn

I am no longer listening. I hate kettle corn passionately. Almost as much as I hate sweet pickles. Both are not just disgusting, they're downright evil.

If they want to make my food, maybe.

Why would I be married to a vegetarian and not a vegan? I would convert them.

Hell no! It'd never happen, but I can't live without meat. Times where I've eaten less resulted in increased mood swings and a general feeling of unwellness.

I would think that someones spouse would be understanding enough to realize that their SO isn't a vegetarian and trying to force them to change would only provide tension in their relationship.

Yes, however with a catch.

I would only eat starches / fruits and would just drop meats from my diet. My stance on how I eat vegetables (aka I don't) would stay the same.

I wouldn't be against it. Personally I have already been considering switching to a plant heavy diet for health reasons. Still, I'd rather it be food that we prepare together be vegetarian whereas meals that we eat/order separately be whatever we want.

My ex girlfriend was vegetarian and forced me to be one if I wanted to stay with her. That lasted 2 years...

I doubt I'd go back, but whatever.

It's funny because she stopped being vegetarian like a month after we broke up...Then a year later she went full-on hippie and lives in a "community" and is a vegan.

Till yesterday I had thought there was no way I could be convinced to go Vegan.... But I did hear a story yesterday that did open my mind up a bit to at least one situation in that if the woman I loved could not actually eat meat or she'd die.... then I assume... yes i'd go Vegan in this situation.
That said if it was her just asking me to go Vegan for no reason other then her feelings, i'd break up with her before giving up meat... I'd die before giving up meat for myself.
