Not everyone has a decent monitor or wants to stick with an "okay monitor that does the job, but isn't exceptionally great".

Those people aren't building budget, then. $500 PCs are budget, and wanting to splurge on stuff you don't have to makes it not budget anymore.

They don't count it because they pirate it.

this
it's kinda weird how much pc users seem to be perfectly fine with piracy, even on a pc which has such "amazing" deals

Well, let's see. My PC is hooked up to my 4K Samsung TV. And I originally bought this TV to play my PS4 on. So I guess I didn't count it towards the price of my PC because it went towards the price of my PS4? :p

What part of "building for scratch" don't you nerds understand? I mean you're the ones who uses the term. And it's much safer to assume you already have prerequisites for consoles however not for PC gaming because more than likely you're switching from one to the other. How are you guys this fucking clueless?

If you are going to "build from scratch," are you going to solder on your own chipsets onto the motherboard, make your own BIOS, and build your own OS?

I'll be sure to let people know that when they are building from scratch to also be given free shit from other people. And that's how you budget PC.

If you already have monitors and the license key to your OS, then there's no reason to include that in the cost unless you're going to keep using your old PC.

This. When I built my first PC this year, I already had those so I didn't need to include those in my budget. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have this already covered, especially the monitors, KB+M, etc.

When people count the cost of consoles, do they include the television, and the online membership as well?

also both need to factor in the cost of renting/owning a house to play it in
