As someone who moved to Germany with no understanding of the language, I can tell you this is a terrible idea.
My job provided me with a translator and took care of my rent and utilities. The city I lived in was beautiful. The people were very friendly to me. The good was delicious. I picked up enough of the language to survive, but I never felt that I was thriving. Ultimately, I left the company because it just wasn't worth feeling alone all the time. Also, work permits are easy if you have the right skills. I got mine in a couple of weeks. ... Copied to Clipboard!

That's the province much of my dad's family are from, iirc, though it was part of Prussia at the time. I know in Germany at least there's a lot of smaller towns that are basically like suburbs for the bigger cities.
