ya know the old tale, it's racist to cross the street when you approach someone of a different race or whatever.

But sometimes, you have to cross right? But what if there's someone approaching? Do you cross because that's where your destination is and appear racist, or do you keep going and turn back to not seem racist?

But since I am huge and scruffy, I cross the street so white people don't have to feel racist. I know a large black man in the city coming towards you wearing a hoodie might be intimidating.

I guess I didn't read the OP right. So you don't want to look racist by going to a different street if you'll otherwise pass by someone of a different race if you don't.

Sounds paranoid af but where I live there is not enough development for there to be places to walk to and streets with people to cross, so guess I wouldn't know.

Oh yeah, I totally avoid homeless people lol. But society has taught me that it's ok to be rude to homeless people, unless folks of a different race.

When I see a black homeless guy tho, my brain does tailspins.

Eh what's the point really. If someone is going to rob you do you really thing crossing the street is going to stop them? I guess if there is busy traffic maybe but moving twenty feet away isn't really going to do much if someone really wants to harm you.

when I lived in DC, I lived in an area that was on the outskirts of gentrification and I saw people cross the street to not have to walk by groups of black people literally every day

the interesting thing to me was that you could influence the group behavior by leading by example

when i didnt cross the street, the people following me didnt either. I started randomly crossing the street to see how well that held up.
