except when it goes free to play, not only will you have been able to play for a year already, but you'll have exclusive items and perks and abilities that the free players do not have.

this is literally not a new thing for free to play games

stop fucking bitching, no one told you to buy the game, no one told you to do no research, go return it if it's that big of a deal.

do you not even know what this game is like? weapons break over time(there's a durability system)so nothing lasts forever in this game

you have no clear advtanage over players who get it when it's free

"Yeah, we scammed you, but it's your fault you were so easily scammed!" This happens all the time, and almost always, the customer is blamed and not the company. WHY?!

If you're paying for early access of a free game, but the company isn't upfront about it being early access of a free game, that's shady as hell.

No, I'm saying they made the exact same promises with Paragon then went back on all of them.

Exclusive founders items, limited-availability event skins, so on and so forth. Now everything can be purchased by everyone as long as you have enough money to buy their RNG-based loot crates. Which were implemented about a year into early access and something Fortnite has right out of the gate.

i don't get why the customer is blamed either....the developers aren't some innocent party that just so happened to make a game filled to the brim with greedy pay to progress tactics by accident

there's a reason why when customers make a complaint about the in-game loot boxes that are you forced to pay for because the alternative is to hope you stumble upon a non-crap weapon just out in the weapon...they go dead silent

they encourage people to stream the game on twitch by offering them additional content just for doing so(by using an in-game streaming option)because that means more suckers they can dupe into buying into the pay to progress nightmare that is fortnite

Sorry TC, but that information is definitely out there. If you feel scammed you should've looked into it better before buying the game. Gotta agree with some of the other posters that it's your own fault.

If you truly feel the advertising is deceptive, you could try contacting your local AG and having their office look into it. You'd get better results that way than complaining on a message board full of unsympathetic strangers.

No one is making excuses for the game being bad, we're just pointing out that it's not the developer's fault that you paid for early access to a free game, when that's exactly how they planned to release the game. Been that way for at least a year, probably longer. I definitely recall an article talking about Fortnite being free-to-play.

Next time, pay attention to the news surrounding the release you're interested in. Sucks that you wasted your money, but at the end of the day it is your fault. Stop throwing a tantrum and just accept the fact that you didn't do your due diligence in researching what the game was about before buying.

Also, big LOL at Epic not being a premiere developer. Just because the art style is more cartoony than a Final Fantasy doesn't mean they're not dedicating a huge amount of money and resources into the development. You have absolutely no clue about the process behind making games.

I went into it expecting a base builder. Came out of the beta realizing I wasn't exactly sure what it was supposed to be but it wasn't what I wanted.

I'd put this on the level of Evolve where it sounds good on paper, not so good in practice.

To find the readily available information that this game was meant to be free.

To find that the paid version is premium early access beta, which is also readily available information.

So you could've avoided spending $40 if you didn't want to.
