Man I hate cops right now. Cop shows up on the scene, talks to the motorcycle guy(21 year old kid on a ninja) and my wife, and tells my wife that she isn't at fault because she was stopping at a stop sign like she was supposed to and the guy on the bike was going too fast to slow down.

Then a second cop shows up(one on a motorcycle), with the motorcycle kid's parents. They talk for a bit with cop #1(cop#2 refuses to speak to my wife) and he reluctantly walks over and tells my wife that they are giving her a citation for it but that she absolutely needs to contest it in court. It cites that she is at fault for not stopping at the stop sign, which makes absolutely no sense. Even if it were true it could in no way cause someone to slam into the back of the car.

Some corrupt bullshit right here. Damn I hate some cops.

All too often, all cops get lumped into the "corrupt" pool by some edgy hipster, fedora-wearing angstiest, etc.

This is BS. Yeah she should contest it and the judge should be pissed they wasted his time.

I do wonder what the kid and his parents said to change this. Maybe he was "Somebody".

Agreed. See how the "all cops suck" people feel after somebody breaks into their house or murders their loved one. I am sure they don't call the police because those types of people are never a bunch of hypocrites (who may or may not spend welfare money on lottery tickets, booze, and cigarettes).

the last cop I talked to was super friendly, except for the part where he blatantly lied to me in an attempt to get me to confess to something I didn't do. all I could think was, "thanks for teaching me not to trust even friendly cops".

My guess is Cop #2 was a friend of the family. The kid called his parents, told them he rear-ended someone and a cop he didn't recognize was there, parents called friend cop (#2), and they all went over together. Or Cop #2 got the details of what was going on, called the parents, and they all went over together. Either is equally likely.

As for #2 overriding #1, probably a rank issue.

Were I in your place, my number one goal would be getting Cop #2 fired. And this is coming from someone with a law enforcement background. It's vermin like him that create the bulk of the hate for police in general.

Also, what Smoke said about the cameras. Walk into court, show the video, and the case is over. Unless their lawyer pulled some scummy shit that would probably get him disbarred if he was found out.
