that's one thing I really miss from my childhood. :( Getting new computer games in these big boxes with all sorts of stuff in them.

Now you're lucky if you can find physical copies of PC games at all! Let alone one in a big box with manuals and stuff in them.

There's very little demand for them, so the companies have don't have a good-enough reason to do them.

To be quite honest, they are a bit impractical compared to DVD cases. Think about it, a typcial PC game box is roughly the size of two DVD cases, if not bigger. The inside usually contains a manual that would most likely fit in a DVD case and a jewel case with the game disc inside. Whilst I do miss them, they aren't very practical.

I miss the big cardboard boxes N64 games came in. I threw them away back in the day. Now I wish I hadn't.

There's literally no reason for physical PC releases other than nostalgia.

That's mostly true. The only thing I will say is that boxes sometimes contained goodies, like maps, instruction manuals, artbooks, etc.

Although to be honest, I'd rather have a cheaper game than those things.

The only reason they were even that big was because a lot of games came with 3-4 discs and those all wouldn't fit in a standard DVD case. I had quite a few games that needed the extra space in the disc holder because multiple discs.

Whilst that may be true, but it gets ridiculous when the game contains only one disc and a manual. Even two-disc PC games would come in jewel cases designed to fit both.
