i could wear headphones on max or hold the speakers up to my ear and i would still not be able to comprehend anywhere near 100% of dialogue in movies and shows.

Pretty much hits the nail on the head. Plus in my case, I've often had a hard time understanding exactly what people are saying in movies and songs even as a kid. Putting subtitles on an old movie for the first time often gives me an entirely new understanding of it. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ...
