Is it an interesting state? Is it representative of America? I always thought of it as being very farmish, but with some nice big cities, and some cities and towns with very middle-class suburbs.

And it is a shithole. At least this part of it. Run down house/buildings everywhere, tons of drug addicts and hillbillies. It is like if you combined the worst parts of the south and the worst parts of the north. That's what Appalachia is like.

Think the only reason why John Kasich ran for president was just so he could get out of Ohio for a bit. Can't blame him.

Is it really that bad? Which town or city do you live in? I thought it looked reasonably nice in photos, but...a bit run-down. Does it have many farms or not?

Yup. It's not bad, at least NE Ohio. I would never want to live in the rural part, that would be hell. I live between Akron and Cleveland and I like it enough

Are the rural parts all really poor? It is because of the Recession, or because they are generally poor? What good qualities does the state have?

I'm from the Zanesville/Cambridge area, which might just be especially shitty, I don't know. :v But yea, lots of farm land and everything is run down. I drive past several dilapidated barns on my way to work everyday.

I think it represents many aspects of the country. we have some VERY rural and downtrodden areas, but our major cities are flourishing. Columbus is like the 12th or 13th largest city in the USA and we have a very thriving arts community here.

yeah Appalachia is mostly hell. it's basically West Virginia in Ohio. that's the 'rural and downtrodden' part i was talking about <_<

I live around the Chillicothe area; small town about a half hour from it.

It's just a ton of small, run down towns tbh lol. At least around where I live.

we are one of the "purple" states that goes back and forth between Repub and Dem and we're a highly contested battleground state. we voted for Obama twice but went with Trump last year because of the large rural sections that still exist in Ohio.

What is the weather like,

winters can get cold and snowy, we've had some bad snowstorms but they're not the norm. summers get quite warm in the middle, but usually high 80s / low 90s is as hot as it gets. it can get pretty humid in the summer, making it feel even hotter.

if we had just a little less snow/ice in the winter i'd be pretty darn satisfied with the weather here, tbh.
