I didn't even approve of James Bond being set past the Cold War. Let alone this. That and James Bond is not a character that is a trophy for any gender. He's a serial murderer, philanderer, gambler, drinker. In other words, not a role model.

i'm not opposed to a non-white Bond or a Bond who sleeps with men (for the job), but a female Bond kinda leaves me with my head scratching. I can see the merits in the first two, but making him a woman you might as well make a new character
and also, she can't act. not that every Bond we've had was very good at that either >_>

I don't get British logic trying to force people other than white males into the James Bond role. There has been precedence for Doctor Who to be made a girl since a Time Lord's appearance and gender is canonically fluid (just traditionally male up until the 13th Doctor).

However, James Bond being a codename for several individuals is just a fan theory at most unless we get official confirmation (which has been already denied when posed the question), and his portrayal by different actors is because no man wants to play the same role for decades.

I wouldn't be okay with changing Bond's sex or orientation, but I would be fine with Cara playing a female counterpart. They'd previously considered doing spinoffs based upon Jinx and Wai Lin.

Wrong. She's got nepotism on her side. She comes from billionaires who also have industry pull. The next headline will be "female bond casted" or something. She just decided to be famous and it was granted. Her meteoric rise as a model and actress wasn't earned in the slightest. She's a nice chick and very sweet I worked with her recently but can't say she really earned her position.

I think that would seem like a cop out. I'd sooner have the character be bisexual than have him as a straight guy who will sleep with a dude on an assignment.

If it contributes to fuller eyebrows on females coming back into style I think I would be ok with it

The Bond series has been fairly liberal since the 90s.

It's kinda like Disney in that regard. No matter how liberal your films are in the present, there will always be people who want to hold you accountable for the way your films were. And a large part of that can be attributed to:

a) people who don't actually watch the series and just go off of what they "know" about it
b) people who are looking to be angry about something and have found their scapegoat

Why?

I mean, why would we want to gender swap Bond? What would it accomplish? It wouldn't be the same character. Might as well make a new character.

Cara Delevingne is just not a good actress though.

I don't care if there's a female 007, but surely they could get someone way better and more recognizable than Cara Delevingne of all people.
