After she steals your stuff and you just go on with the game with out picking it back up?

You pretty much can't. If you try to get back into the Tiny Bronco without recovering your materia from Yuffie Cloud will stop you from doing so.

In essence you have to complete the Wutai section of the game once you've started it. You can skip the entire thing, but that locks you out of the Leviathan materia and some other goodies.

At what point? If you just met her you need to give her a few specific answers or else she'll steal stuff. If you reached her hometown, you gotta explore some more and complete a sidequest in there.

I meant after she stole from your crew after you welcomed her in. And she stabs you in the back.

You can absolutely lose materia permanently to Yuffie. Don't screw around with that urchin.

Yuffie's side quest is amazing. If this is your first time playing FF7, I frankly envy you for experiencing all the fun for the first time. ^_^

Oh no lol. I just saw one or two post about Yuffie and this questioned popped into my mind. But it does stand out, from all of the games I played. I can't remember a member robbing me.

if you have 200 materia slot full when she returns the stolen materia, yeah.
which is unlikely unless you used a cheat .
