I'm talking of course about game series like Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, and the Tales series that have multiple settings/canons that don't directly relate to one another

I really kinda dig this, tbh. Continuity is cool but it's a good fit for an RPG to have new lore and a new world every time.

Legend of Zelda games rarely actually correlate with one another outside of the timeline.

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you.

No, they're all set in the same world at different time periods.

This is also true for over half of the Fire Emblem games.

Shadow Dragon, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem (and their remakes), Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, and Awakening all take place in the same world. Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn may also take place in the same world as those due to some hints dropped in Awakening (though the Tellius games' backstory makes that a bit difficult, and when you factor in the Outrealm stuff that Awakening introduced...).

Dark Souls, although that was more applicable when it was just 1 and 2.

3 honestly tried a little too hard to make connections with 1. I'd prefer if it had tried more to flesh out its own identity instead of constantly referencing the first game.

If we consider Demon's Souls and Bloodborne as part of the series then it really applies, but they aren't in the same universe.
