Final Fantasy XIII

Beat it at 55 hours but it was very unfulfilled

I don't generally make myself play games I don't enjoy. But the closest thing to this in recent memory was Persona 5. It was my first entry into the series, did the first palace and wasn't really digging it, due to all the new stuff I was trying to learn in a series I'd never played was leaving me feeling and like I was doing horribly at the game.

So I left it for a month or two to play other stuff. Decided to give it another chance when I was on a holiday from work because I wanted to see what everyone else saw in it, and it finally clicked and I ended up loving it.

Tales of Symphonia

I didn't play it until the remaster, and oh my god the combat sucks if you play it for the first time after Vesperia, Graces F, and Xillia 1&2. That, and the story is so bare bones and childish after having played later games.

Also, oddly enough, Xenogears, but only on replays. I adored that game start to finish the first time I played it, but any time I replayed it was just awful.

I love the series, and have played each previous game numerous times. However, 5 was just so, so garbage, I kept forcing myself to continue, hoping it would get better...Then I beat it, and was so sad I sold it right away; which is something I never do. I never sell games I like; I still have my entire PS1 and PS2 collections, for crying out loud..

I liked the game plan but stopped caring about the plot after the disc two reveal. Still finished it.

The super famicom Dragon Ball Z rpg, legend of the super sayajin was bad. Everything about it was really lackluster even for then. I finished that too. Phantasy Star Online revealed to me that I have a problem with the grind, as I played hours and hours of offline campaigns in that game looking for good drops and never played with other people, so it was literally pointless.

Eternal Sonata. I didn't like it because 95% of the characters were obnoxious and annoying, major elements of the story were cryptic enough that I never really got what was going on, and the last part of the story just abruptly comes out of nowhere. But the battle system was good and I played through the damn thing twice anyway just because I tend to be an achievement whore.

FFX. Hate the game, beat it twice. I beat it once, didn't like it. Saw people calling it the goat game ever and figured I'd give it another shot. Didn't work.

It's an awful game and the only reason I managed to almost finish it is that I'm playing it with 3 other friends and we have about 20% of our attention dedicated to the game and the rest to talking about random things

THe combat in that game was pretty which is the only reason I finished. I stopped caring about rhe characters and story pretty early in because it was such trash.

It wasn't a ton of time, but FF6 was a drag. Didn't really like the characters or story as much as they're talked up. Please don't stone me, y'all.

Right now it's FFXV. I'm halfway through and trying to complete it but really not feeling it. I'll play a few hours like every couple of weeks.

Fallout 4 is the best answer. Best example of a game with a nasty aftertaste.

I honestly don't find the combat particularly fun either, rowan spamming fireballs easily outdamages the rest of the team combined and while there are lots of mechanics that reward precision play (parrying, dodging just before an attack) it's very hard to make use of them because the game is super laggy when everyone's spamming moves at once.

I think the only redeeming feature of it is the character banter. Their roles in the overall story and how they react to things are often pretty stupid but the side skits and post battle cutscenes are generally good
