Lucky you, you missed possible nuclear war and a literal nazi rally. Fortunately our dear leader got us through it with his impeccable leadership.

there's a statue of famous civil war general robert e lee in charlottesville, virginia. the town voted to remove the statue and last weekend there was a rally held there by lots of far right groups (neo nazi groups, alt-right, white supremacists, those kinds of people) who were uniting together to protest the statue's removal.

naturally lots of counter protesters (including antifa) also attended this event and things got ugly, it was declared a state of emergency etc.

at some point in the night one of the members of a neo nazi group rammed his car full speed into a crowd, resulting in the death of one of the counter protesters, a 30 year old woman.

after the rally obviously a lot of people were pissed at there being a visible showing of people that are pretty much all essentially nazis in the US and started doxxing a lot of the people in the protest, and there was a lot of heat on Trump to make some kind of statement decrying the far right / white supremacists / that sort of thing. in true trump fashion it took him two days and his initial tweet included "Sad!" lol
