Does anyone really like YouTube that much anymore? It's such shit, but there's nothing else out there that I'm aware of. Why doesn't someone just make a decent competitor? Wouldn't that be good money?

All the other video sites are specialized in things like music videos or straight up shock/gore sites.

Youtube streamlined uploading content and gathered the biggest user base first. That's the biggest part to it. It's hard to host that many videos. It would take a company of equal size to start a business to compete directly with youtube but there's no profit in it. I think I read somewhere that even youtube doesn't really make a profit with how much it costs to maintain.

Youtube got here first, captured the largest share, became market leader. Once you're leader, it's almost impossible for others to overtake. Only other big competitor I know of is Dailymotion, but they've only stood out since they allowed R-rated s***. Now they're removing all the porno stuff as well so Dailymotion has fallen out of the picture
