I went to both a lot back in the day. I'll go with Blockbuster.

Out of those two, Blockbuster. However, I always went to Movie Gallery while growing up.

There was only one Hollywood Video around when I was a kid, and it was far away. Blockbuster had multiple locations so I'm gonna say Blockbuster for that. Blockbuster also had a decent collection at every store and there was always something to watch.

Movie Gallery shits all over both of those.

Rented my first ps2 there for like a week when they rented consoles.

Mostly went to the local store, then Blockbuster when they closed down. Hollywood only a few times.

I only had a blockbuster and a local place.

The local place still exists and I go there with dates.

Blockbuster because they suddenly went out of business in my town, and I just happened to have rented Clayfighters 63 1/3rd Sculpter's Cut. Had the manual to the game too. They never asked for it back, and I sold it years later for $200.

I had a Blockbuster a block away from me. I never been in a Hollywood Video.

Nah but seriously, Blockbuster. Had one across the street from me and as a kid that was awesome. And then they started having the crazy 4 owned for $20 and other deals like that. I wound up buying a lot of movies from them.

Hollywood Videos easily but that was closed down.

Blockbuster used to have a lot shorter rent period and cost more so it was a lose/lose. Hollywood Video had, I think it was a 5-day rental period or something like that. We used to rent movies and games all the time there before it went out of business. I'm assuming it went out of business because its model wasn't sustainable or something... or maybe Blockbuster bought it out... because it was a much better deal.


I even ended up working for Blockbuster years later (it was right across the street from me where as Hollywod Video was five or so minutes away) but I still know I preferred Hollywood Videos.
