I say no, the best way to combat all the 3rd world breeding is to give women something to do instead of sitting there popping out kid after kid. Like education and putting them in the workforce so they are too busy having a career to be squeezing out baby after baby.

Also improving sex education and general quality of life so that there is less chance of unwanted pregnancies.

* Population growth rates have been declining since 1988.

* There are more than enough resources to go around if everyone isn't a dick. Currently, the USA uses almost 1/4th of the world's resources despite having only 5% of the population.

* The way the economy of most nations work requires population growth to work. It's essentially a glorified pyramid scheme. Expect a lot of shit to go down in the near future.

I know. I wasn't stating it would happen. Just that it could. It's potentially why some people in the emerging economies resent the US because they see the US using all these resources while they are having their hands tied by various climate change legislation. Also why in the middle east they see all their oil going to the US and making little money on it while struggling to make ends meet. Not hard to see why a lot of people resent the west.

This is true. Most people don't realize it though.

State Pensions in the UK is a big talking point at the moment because there aren't enough young people putting taxes in to cover what the aging population are taking out. That and people living longer so taking more out over their lifetime.

The greatest population control method ever devised is modern civilization.

There was a massive oil boom just last decade.

The countries that were able to take advantage of that boom like Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and KSA are very rich.

Even Iraq is much richer post war than before...

We are at 7ish billion and the earth realistically could handle somewhere just over 10. We have a long way to go until critical mass and the amount of time it will take to get there gives us plenty of time to perfect the solutions to the biggest problems currently available.
