Besides some ports the only real standouts were the Golden Sun games.

Nintendo stopped being a JRPG powerhouse with the PS1's release, and it never really regained that market share. The PSP is a sex machine when it comes to JRPGs, and now all the really Japanese games and turn-based RPGs are on Sony platforms.

But even then, it has a decent enough library - six Final Fantasy games, some Dragon Quest games, five Pokemon games plus a Mystery Dungeon game, some Breath of Fire games, Yggdra Union, Tactics Ogre, Golden Sun... it had an alright niche of ports, releases and original games. If you count Mega Man Battle Network as a strategy RPG (though a really unorthadox one at that), that's another series of like 6 games.

I wasn't really disappointed in the sense that the library was still fantastic without them. It would have been nice to have more though, like the DS and 3DS.

Incidentally, what genre do you consider the Battle Network games? Action RPGs? What about the Legacy of Goku I/II and Buu's Fury?

You had other (Japanese) ARPGs like the Shining Soul and Summon Knight games.

There were also quite a few SRPGs, like Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Super Robot Taisen, etc.

The Vita is pretty much the JRPG Nirvana. Just... not the type I'm interested in.

Some of the GBA's coolest RPG's like Yggdra Union were later ported to the PSP as well. I agree, the PSP/Vita are probably the kings of JRPG's for consoles, but since a decent amount of them also have Steam ports, I might argue that GBA still ended up with a bigger library of exclusive JRPG's.

Also, how could you guys forget the two (three counting the Japan only one) Fire Emblem games? Those have to count as SRPG's too.

FE7 and FE8 are also both on the Wii U Virtual Console if you're desperate to play them again. Or you could take the shadier route and do certain things to a phone or 3DS to play them on those.
