I don't think this is as good as Deja Entendu or The Devil and God, but it's on that level.

I was wondering who was going to make the topic, I was considering just calling it "Brand New" and then getting you and @StartTheMachine in here.

I've listened to it at least 4-5 times just today, and a few yesterday as well. Very impressed. I never got into Daisy, but I might give it another shot at some point. Not going to bother trying to rank it this early, but I fucking love it. Favourite tracks are Waste and In The Water right now, but I can't see myself skipping anything on here ever.

Also, that album art. Definitely buying this on vinyl (though likely in person rather than the site since shipping is insane and in USD)

we aren't ever gonna have this feeling of combing through a new record by them ever again

Can't wait to listen to this. I'm so far out of the music loop nowadays that I didn't even know this was coming until a few days ago. This band takes me back 14-15 years - really tugs the nostalgia strings of being a teenager

Only listened twice so far but it's pretty good. I can tell Vin wrote most of the lyrics again though (I'm not a big Daisy fan). Can't Get It Out is probably a Jesse song and I love it. I'm overall quite impressed so far.

After listening for a bit more I think my top 3 are Could Never Be Heaven, Same Logic / Teeth, and Desert. There are a few that could change that like 451

You need to like.

Just take at least a few months just to process Deja Entendu first. That album is the album of a generation. It's an ethereal experience that cannot be compared to anything that came before or after it. It's seriously untouchable.

That said, if you like Deja, you'll like Science Fiction.

JEW is great. You can pretty easily "get" the middle on the first listen, for instance

I don't even like Brand New very much but I have to admit this is a pretty good album. Won't come anywhere near AOTY for me, though, especially with all the stuff still to drop in the next few months.

What had more layers? I'm pretty sure Jimmy Eat World's first album was Bleed American, AKA "the one with the middle".



Anyway, I've been listening to the album a lot more and I'm pretty sure it's their best. I've never been so impressed with one of their albums this quickly. The idea that I'll enjoy it even more as I get deeper is mind boggling.

Really? Coz I was pretty instantly blown away by The Devil and God on the first listen.

I was on a road trip to visit my girlfriend the last two days so I got about seven or eight real in depth listens in. Same Logic leapt up my ranking while Out of Mana crashed down. 451 is still the solid front runner.

I slept HARD on Could Never Be Heaven at first. That song is seriously so beautiful.

Could Never Be Heaven is like if God won the battle that was raging inside. And Desert is if the Devil won.

The Devil and God was the first album of theirs I listened to (thanks B8, can't remember who exactly gave the rec) and I was definitely blown away by Degausser and that's what hooked me, but it took qite a while for me to get into the second half of the album, and now I love the entire thing. I had a similar experience with Deja. But enjoying the entire thing start to finish as much as I am already is something new. The lyrics are just fucking incredible, and I'm with you on Same Logic, it's one of my favourites for sure.

Also I've listened to Daisy a few times recently and it's way better than I remembered.

Yeah, I don't really get the hype, other than the fact that it sounds like a certain era of Brand New more than anything else on the album. Literally EVERY review singles out the last chorus and the "I'm just a manic depressive line". I mean it's good, but so is the rest of the album. I do feel like I'm alone in my love of Waste though, I find it heartbreaking and I can't stop thinking about it.
