Only two videos games I have ever seen pull a female audience

Animal Crossing and Pokemon.

Every time I look on youtube for Animal Crossing vids, a lot of the creators are girls and all the comments are girls

because whenever journalists do these studies they always include shit like mobile/facebook games or they word the question in a kind of leading way to make everyone say yes ("have you played a video game in the last 5 years?" or "have you ever played a video game?") etc

so the end result is that you have a survey where the average age of a gamer is like 30+ and nearly half the players are women lol. in reality it's probably still predominantly male teenagers and preteens that play video games

i think thats probably a big portion of it

my wife plays a lot of little phone games and will play stuff like mario kart on occasion but has absolutely no interest in more violent games and is actually turned off by a lot of the gore
