Are you self aware at all? They did that for white men for years and decades and centuries, and STILL do in many cases, and very few of us ever turned down the jobs. And do you know why? Because your definition of "dignity" doesn't mean anything when you have bills and responsibilities and families to pay for. And you know damn well you wouldn't turn down a job you needed, even if you knew they selected you over someone better. You'd rationalize it just like anyone else, and do the job to the best of your ability. I've been given jobs that I was qualified for, but I've also gotten jobs where I knew somebody, or I had family members working there (and I may not have been the best candidate in those situations either). And I don't feel the least bit bad about it. I would suggest everybody latch on to whatever advantages they can get in this world, and that includes affirmative action. If you're a minority or a white woman and you can make affirmative action work for you, then great. I'll be over here using my connections to try to get ahead. All is fair in college and jobs.
