It feels awkward not being able to aim though. I'm too used to modern shooters.

2 has better gameplay. 3 is fun but the weakest in the series imo.

I think Max Payne 3 was one of the greatest shooters ever made, but the story wasn't up to par with Max Payne 1 or 2.

I preferred the bullet time in 1 to 2, never played 3.

I loved 3, didn't play the first or second though I wish I did. I just wished it had a bigger community, its been a while since I last played it but even back then the online was dead which I believe was due to the lack of advertising. The story was amazing though. I loved the monologues he did.

It's a really great franchise. Max Payne 2 is similar and more tight but it's shorter.

Max Payne 3 is a completely different beast. Production values are through the roof. It's still overall faithful mechanics wise but the vibe is totally different.

This is mostly the reason why i didn't like Max Payne 3, 1 and 2 have one kind of vibe and setting and 3 turns into some sort of GTA Brazil game

Max Payne 3 is a cover based shooter with a little bullet time whereas 1 and 2 are bullet time shooters with a little bit of cover

I think that's fair enough. It's not a dark noir game anymore. It's more like a Michael Mann sorta thriller. Which does fit Rockstar a bit more I guess. At least it's still gritty and has lots of monologues.

I barely used cover in MP3 tbh. It's an option but it's overall a much better game if you play it like the original 2.

People call it a cover shooter but that's just one way to play it.

Honestly, I do wish they would have kept the comic panels for cutscenes though. Max Payne 3 promotional material had some great artwork. But I guess they wouldn't have been able to hide the load times as well then :/

2's atmosphere isnt quite as thick as the first one and its hit and miss story wise for some people (i personally really liked it). outside of those its improved in most ways. 3's core gameplay is quite good as is its soundtrack, but half of it feels like a completely different game with most of the first 2's charm being gone. its gameplay to cutscene ratio is also really extreme and ends up hurting its pacing. still its a good game for what it is, but if you love the first and second ton your expectations down.

Agree. It is almost as good as the first 2 when you dont use the cover. Plus in harder difficulty, you will die if you dont move, run n gun
